EXERCISE SCIENCE
The School of Health Sciences at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, invites qualified persons with a passion for the advancement of exercise science and expertise in motor control / biomechanics to apply for a full-time tenure-track faculty position with salary and rank commensurate with experience. A doctoral degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field is required. Candidates with evidence of clinical and/or applied exercise experience, and research productivity integrating motor and mechanical issues are especially encouraged to apply. Our teaching and research laboratories include metabolic, pulmonary, cardiac, body composition, 3d motion capture, and electromyography assessment capabilities. We offer a Master of Science Degree with clinical, performance, and research tracks, a post graduate certificate, and an undergraduate concentration and minor. The new faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop coursework in areas of expertise, collaborate in the
development of a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degree, and initiate and maintain a program of research, scholarship, and service. A program leadership position may also be considered for the holder of Associate rank or higher.
The School of Health Sciences serves over 2400 undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and post-professional students through a singular model of advancing community-engaged translational relationships, connecting theory to best practices in four thematic areas.
Integrative Health – our undergraduate program in health sciences offers concentrations in nutrition, holistic health, and pre-health professions, while the applied health sciences program offers degree completion opportunities for health specialized associate degree holders.
Biomedical Professions – training in biomedical diagnostic and therapeutic sciences includes medical laboratory science, radiologic technology, and nuclear medicine.
Human Performance – the doctor of physical therapy and master of exercise sciences programs offer post-professional certificates and support undergraduate health sciences program concentrations.
Public and Environmental Wellness – our comprehensive programs consist of undergraduate wellness and health promotion, undergraduate and graduate environmental health and safety, and the master of public health.
