Job description
Ensure the provision of a specialized applied football biomechanical services to assigned Aspire football coaches, players and related Sport Science professionals. This role involves planning, testing, data analysis, dissemination of results and relevant applied research resulting in an improved physiological preparation for football excellence, in accordance with the aims and objectives of Aspire. Central to this position is the need to import and implement new concepts and technology in order to develop cutting edge programs in football biomechanics.

Key Accountabilities/ Tasks
Assist with providing leadership and direction to the operations of the Biomechanics Unit to ensure the effective delivery of services to the Football Performance & Science
• Assist with the provision of expert professional and consultancy advice regarding the development and delivery of Football biomechanical services
• Provide expert input and direction into the schedule regarding testing, monitoring and research activities
• Prepare the laboratories, field testing environments and equipment for the relevant testing programs
• Ensure the development, implementation and maintenance of quality control procedures and accuracy of analysis within Aspire Football Performance & Science
• Design, establish, implement and interprets quality assured field and laboratory sport biomechanical test protocols in consultation with Football Performance & Science scientists, coaches and players
• Collect biomechanical data during training and competition in order to better understand the biomechanical requirements of the sport
• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a database of test results from the field and laboratory
• Prepare and review comprehensive reports for coaches and players including the interpretation of results
• Provide to coaches and players state of the art information on biomechanical analysis to optimize technique and minimize injury
• Conduct, commission or collaborate on applied research projects which contribute to improving the effectiveness of the coaches and players in training and competition
• Monitor new developments in the field of football performance & science in general and football biomechanics in particular
• Keep up to date with the scientific literature by attending relevant national and international conferences, congresses, seminars and workshops
• Write, present and publish results of applied research in internationally recognized journals
• Contribute to coach, players and staff education by presenting lectures, seminars and workshops on relevant topics.
• Maintain liaison with international sport science personnel and sports institutes/academies
• Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor
• Provide guidance and direct input to the development plans and performance management of direct reports to meet the AZF objectives.

Qualifications/ Requirements
• PhD or MSc degree in Sport Science (biomechanics) or related field
• 7 years’ experience in the field of applied sport biomechanics with elite and/or developmental athletes; 2-3 years should be in a similar position/responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry.
• High level of competence in using biomechanical equipment (set-up, data acquisition, analysis and reporting)
• High level of competence in sport biomechanics research methodology and appropriate statistical techniques
• Proven ability to implement and when necessary design high level applied sport biomechanical procedures
• Ability to critically analyze and interpret situations, conceptualize, provide alternate, novel or innovative solutions
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with coaches and players in a way that converts complex biochemical principles and techniques into sports language
• Proven ability to apply specialist skills in resolving applied sports biomechanical problems
• Proven personal and professional skills related to dealing with athletes from widely diverse age groups and backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or work within a team as well as the ability to work independently and possess a high level of personal initiative and autonomy
• Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary football performance and science team
• Basic understanding of the principles of coaching, strength and conditioning, physiology, physiotherapy and sport nutrition
• Experience in coaching is considered beneficial
