Assistantship Description:
Applications are invited for graduate research/teaching assistantships for student interested in pursuing a M.S. in Motor Control through the Department of Kinesiology at Texas Christian University (TCU). We are seeking a motivated candidate for a 2-year assistantship to work in the Biomechanics and Motor Behavior Laboratory. These funded positions will assist with teaching in the Department of Kinesiology and assist with ongoing research that emphasizes the lab’s goal to enhance motor skill learning through the development of novel training paradigms that can be applied to the contexts of performance enhancement, injury prevention, and movement rehabilitation. The laboratory also offers an exciting partnership with local sport medicine institutes that afford multiple clinically-relevant research opportunities.
Individuals with a background in sports medicine, kinesiology, biomechanics, motor control, or related fields are invited to apply. Assistantship awards require 10-20 hours/week of research/departmental duties plus course work and includes a monthly stipend during the 9-month academic year along with a tuition waiver.
M.S. in Kinesiology Program Description: The mission of the graduate program in kinesiology is to provide students the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the theoretical basis of human movement. Students are able to specialize in one of the subdisciplines within kinesiology; however, the departmental core curriculum also gives students a cross-disciplinary exposure to the study of human movement. Along with classroom studies, involvement in original laboratory research constitutes a major means by which students gain a broad understanding of their specialty area. The M.S. in Kinesiology Program has four concentration options: 1) Exercise Physiology, 2) Motor Control, 3) Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Chronic Disease, and 4) Sports Psychology. The M.S. program offers outstanding opportunities to build an inter-disciplinary skill set that will position the individual to embark upon either a successful research or clinical career.
