The research group Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Western Ontario two motivated Masters students who have distinguished themselves during or after his/her studies and has a particular interest in the study of human movement, medical imaging and joint loading.
Projects:
The candidate will perform research in the area of joint contact mechanics and orthopaedic surgery, with a strong focus on the development of medical and assistive devices and innnovations that offer new diagnostic, treatment and therapeutic technologies that improve health and quality of life and mobility. Several research projects are being conducted and include:
1. Measurement of finger force and motion analysis for strategies to improve joint protection programs for hand arthritis
2. Quantitative low-dose peripheral cone beam CT imaging to examine wrist contact mechanics in patients with a distal radius fracture
3. Motion analysis for the upper extremity during standard and complex tasks with special interest in injured workers
Profile:
The successful candidate should have knowledge and experience in this particular field of study. Strong inter-personal skills are essential as these studies involve recruiting and interacting with patients.

Currently we are offering two fully funded research positions for May or September 2017 in either the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering or the Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada.
