I am seeking a motivated student to pursue a Ph.D. in the Biomechanics and Movement Science (BIOMS) program (www.udel.edu/bioms), beginning in the Fall of 2017. Funded lines of research focus on the biomechanics of fall recovery, in turn developing assessments and interventions to reduce fall injury and enable mobility. Students will have the opportunity to work directly with patient populations, including older adults, individuals with chronic stroke, and children with cerebral palsy. Available technology includes three-dimensional motion capture, force plates, electromyography, activity monitors, and a computer-controlled treadmill to induce falls.
Graduate Admission Recommendations:
- BS or BA degree
- GRE > 300 (combined quantitative and verbal)
- Undergraduate GPA >3.0
- TOEFL IBT minimum of 90 (international students only)
- Minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (international students only)
PhD Program: (BIOMS)
- The Interdisciplinary Program in Biomechanics and Movement Science includes faculty from the College of Health Science, College of Engineering, and College of Arts & Sciences who use an interdisciplinary approach to research and graduate education. The program ranks among the top graduate programs in its field according to a recent assessment by the National Research Council (NRC).
- Applicants are expected to have course experience in the areas of math (through calculus), anatomy/physiology, physics (2 semesters), and chemistry (2 semesters).
Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Jeremy Crenshaw, PhD (crenshaw@udel.edu).
Candidates may also wish to visit:
- Department of Kinesiology & Applied Physiology (www.udel.edu/kaap/)
- College of Health Sciences (www.udel.edu/chs/)
- Graduate Office: (www.udel.edu/gradoffice/), including online application (www.udel.edu/gradoffice/apply/)
