The Clinic for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery at the Heidelberg University Hospital is enlarging its research team in the Movement Analysis Laboratory and is offering two positions:
Post-Doc position (100%) and
PhD position (50%)
The positions are financed by third-party funds and hence are limited for two years. An extension is aspired.
The division Movement Analysis directs two movement laboratories performing instrumented 3D gait- and movement analysis for research and clinical application. In the traditional gait laboratory primarily patients with neurologic movement disorders are monitored for orthopaedic treatment planning and outcome control. In the second laboratory - designed as course with inclines and stair cases - patients with lower limb prostheses are monitored both for research and therapeutic treatment.
Within a new research project we aim for monitoring the biomechanics of prosthetic gait in subjects with above knee amputation. This project involves both experimental work as well as biomechanical modelling.
Possible candidates should hold a Master’s degree or a PhD in life science, medical engineering or similar fields. Knowledge in movement science and image processing including software skills are expected – experience with ultrasound imaging and with OpenSim modelling is an advantage. Next to participating in the current research project the support in writing research proposals is expected.
Beyond regular scientific work, candidates should actively participate in related studies and in the clinically oriented dialogue within an interdisciplinary team of surgeons, therapists, prosthesists and orthetists and other researchers in life science and engineering. Knowledge of German is not a formal prerequisite but the willingness to pick up the language will ease the work significantly.
Please send your application including letter of motivation, CV and copies of certificates and references at best electronically as single PDF to:
