Job Description:
The Technology Implementation Research Center (TIRC) at the Massachusetts General Hospital has an immediate opening for a Research & Development Engineer to lead projects relating to design and development of novel hip and knee replacement implants. The TIRC offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of translational research, and to work with a close knit team of highly experienced scientists, engineers and clinicians.
The R&D engineer will be responsible for computer aided design, finite element analysis, musculoskeletal dynamic simulations, designing and executing in vitro/laboratory testing, and preparing project reports/scientific manuscripts. A creative mindset, strong team oriented work ethic, and willingness to develop new skills are a must. Requirements:
- MS or PhD in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
- Strong computer aided design skills and proficiency in one or more associated tools such as SolidWorks /ProEngineer/ CATIA
- Excellent knowledge of finite element analysis techniques and high level of proficiency in one or more related tools such as ANSYS/ ABAQUS
- Excellent knowledge of musculoskeletal modeling (forward/inverse dynamics simulations) and proficiency in one or more related tools such as AnyBody, OpenSim, LifeModeler etc.
- Experienced in designing and conducting in vivo and in vitro (cadaver) experiments
- Strong hands on design / prototyping experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills
