The Department of Health Promotion and Human Performance at Weber State University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, OR a 9-month Instructor position in the Exercise and Sport Science program. Instructor positions are renewable annually by separate contract at the sole discretion of the university. Either position may begin as early as July 2017. If applying for the position at the rank of Assistant Professor:
The successful Assistant Professor applicant will be expected to: (a) teach a 12-credit hour load each during the Fall and Spring semesters to undergraduate students. Courses to be taught may include structural kinesiology and biomechanics lecture and lab, measurement and statistics in exercise science, and other exercise science, physical education, or athletic training courses housed in the college. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching; (b) initiate and maintain a scholarly agenda; (c) be active in service to the institution, community, and/or his or her profession; and (d) work collegially as a member of the Health Promotion and Human Performance faculty team.
If applying for the position at the rank of Instructor:
The successful Instructor applicant will be expected to teach up to 15-credit hour load during both the Fall and Spring semesters to undergraduate students. Courses to be taught may include structural kinesiology and biomechanics lecture and lab, measurement and statistics in exercise science, and other exercise science or physical education courses housed in the college. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Transition to a tenure-track position is possible upon completion of PhD in Kinesiology, Biomechanics or other closely related field by August 2018.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requirements for Assistant Professor: Doctorate degree in Kinesiology, Biomechanics or other closely related field required, A.B.D. will be considered if degree completed by August 2017.
Requirements for Assistant Professor: Successful experience teaching kinesiology, exercise science or closely related content in a college/university setting.
Preferred Qualifications Assistant Professor:
- Successful experience teaching kinesiology, biomechanics lecture and lab, and measurement and statistics in exercise science in a college/university setting
- Recent record of scholarly achievement and desire to continue scholarly activities
- Evidence of service to the community or college/university
- Computer literacy, teaching with technology, and competency related to biomechanics laboratory activities and assessments
- Experience with 3D motion capture, force plates and electromyography systems
- Evidence of activity in professional organizations
Preferred Qualifications Instructor:
- Evidence of progress to PhD in kinesiology, biomechanics or other closely related field
- Successful experience teaching kinesiology, biomechanics lecture and lab, and measurement and statistics in exercise science in a college/university setting
- Recent record of scholarly achievement and desire to continue scholarly activities
- Evidence of service to the community or college/university
- Computer literacy, teaching with technology, and competency related to biomechanics laboratory activities and assessments

- Evidence of activity in professional organizations
