The School of Sport and Exercise at Massey University (Albany Campus, Auckland) is seeking a highly motivated student interested in pursuing a PhD in biomechanics, with a specific focus on accelerations, impact and joint loading. The University will meet the cost of enrolment and non-tuition fees and provide a concurrent opportunity to gain teaching experience (primarily in Sport Biomechanics I) through a paid graduate assistantship.

To be eligible for this opportunity you will have completed a master’s degree in exercise science, biomechanics, mechanical engineering, kinesiology, or related field; those with an engineering background are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience in an English-speaking classroom (including teaching assistantships) and programming experience with Matlab software and other languages (C++, Java, etc).

Applicants must possess a strong work ethic and be able to work independently, as well as under supervision. Doctoral supervision will be primarily provided by Drs Sarah Shultz and Philip Fink.

To be able to take up this opportunity you must apply and be accepted into the Massey University doctoral programme. Employment as Graduate Assistant will also be dependent on programme acceptance.
