Job Summary

Job Summary
The Development and Testing Engineer works collaboratively with internal and external team members to develop and lead testing protocols to validate designs and to identify opportunities to improve product offerings. This team member ensures that the product meets both external and internal requirements, including legal compliance and customer expectations.
The Development and Testing Engineer also monitors and advises on the performance of the quality management system and reports on performance.
Responsibilities
- Implement new ideas through interaction with outside design teams and suppliers as well as the internal product development group
- Interact with customers and the Sales and Marketing team to receive product feedback and develop solutions to improve player experience with the product
- Maintain technical expertise with regard to industry product requirements and interact with industry groups, such as the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment, the National Athletic Equipment Reconditioner Association and Safety Equipment Institute, and work with customers and test agencies, such as the NFL, NCAA and Virginia Tech
- Collect and maintain customer feedback and lead issue resolution activities
- Act as the resident expert in testing equipment by recommending and developing specifications for equipment purchases
- Conduct extensive testing on current products and prototypes and actively engineer new solutions from insights gained through testing
- Establish and document engineering specifications and tolerances for components and finished goods
- Define sampling frequencies and ensure data acquisition rates are maintained to ensure stability of processes
- Lead external testing engagements, develop test methodologies and procedures used to prove out new designs, and manage the test laboratory, including supervision of technicians and lab personnel
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to be flexible and the tendency to be a responsible self-starter and problem-solver
- Ability to work in a highly organized and efficient manner with a team-oriented, can-do attitude
- Ability to prioritize and maintain a customer-first attitude
- Love of the game and a desire to continuously innovate to provide the safest product possible
