Ph.D. assistantships in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation at ODU, Norfolk, VA
Applications are being accepted for the Ph.D. in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation at Old Dominion University (ODU), Norfolk, VA for fall 2017. Graduate research assistantships for qualified candidates are also available. The deadline for applications is May 15th.
The Ph.D. in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation at ODU is designed for students with a kinesiology/exercise science background as well as rehabilitation professionals (athletic trainers, occupational therapists, physical therapists or speech/language pathologists) who are interested in becoming leaders, teachers and scholars in their respective fields. This inter-professional program features faculty from the College of Health Sciences and the College of Education. The curriculum's core has a broad focus on neurophysiology, motor control and motor learning. Examples of specific research interests include;

- Assessment and prevention of falls in older adults and clinical populations
- Using virtual reality for the rehabilitation of gait and balance
- Biomechanical and neurological control of gait and posture
- Neurophysiological basis for tremor production in older adults and Parkinson’s disease
- Impact of fatigue on upper and lower limb movements
- Motor learning during rehabilitation of older adults and clinical populations
