Position Summary:
The Motion Analysis Center provides comprehensive studies for multiple movement disorders. The lab regularly provides motion analysis evaluations for gait, upper extremity activities and trunk motion. Our center has two labs, one equipped with 12 Vicon motion capture and the other 8 with cameras. Additionally we have 4 AMTI force plates, a 16-channel Delsys EMG system, and a Novel foot pressure walkway.
The lab physical therapist has four main areas of responsibility-
1) Preform clinical evaluations- the physical therapist is responsible for data collection during patient evaluations. 2) processing data and report generation – Once data is collected, the physical therapist is responsible for processing data collected using Nexus, Microsoft Access and Polygon and creating the final clinical report 3) Scheduling and general lab activities 4) assist in the development of new clinical and research protocols.

Job Responsibilities
- Performs an accurate, comprehensive physical examination per departmental protocol and SMACnet
- Performs clinical gait analysis studies, including marker and electrode placement
- Performs complete and thorough collection of data based on assessment of patient needs and departmental protocol.
- Willingness to learn how to analysis and interpret motion capture
- Produce written evaluations and have the ability to verbally communicate findings and recommendations for physicians and other allied health professionals
- Ensures accurate, complete, and timely documentation of patient charges and gait reports into electronic medical record.
- Provides appropriate education to patients and families to meet their needs.
- Provides tours and public education programs as needed
- Coordinates and participates in clinical research activities
- Assists in literature reviews and maintenance of departmental research library to support the clerical and research needs of the department.
- Participates in development, design, and implementation of Motion Analysis Lab research protocols to ensure that all projects answer clinically relevant questions that impact the care of patients at Shriners Hospitals for Children
- Performs data retrieval, entry and processing to ensure accurate and timely completion of all assigned research projects.
- Assists in the preparation of abstracts, presentations, posters or papers that effectively communicate research results for presentation at professional meetings.
