Responsibilities
As a Sports Research Engineer, you will be responsible for all research and testing related to the Global Business Units supported. You will design and carry out large scale research experiments in our world class research facility with the goal of increasing both the company and consumer knowledge of performance, injury, comfort, fit, and others. You will also serve a vital role in validating and maximizing the impact of your Business Unit’s products through both advising and testing. You will integrate into multi-disciplinary innovation teams and have the opportunity to work with product managers, marketing, engineering, design, and product developers. In addition, you will work with a diverse team of scientists to further laboratory infrastructure to help improve efficiencies and effectiveness. Research
Product Validation
Assist team in development of infrastructure (processes, software programs, protocols and procedures) for Sports Research and Product Validation focused on applying analytical data to the design and engineering of performance based products.

Research
- Lead both applied and basic biomechanical, physiological, and material science research projects
- Design and perform data collections utilizing
- Motion capture
- High speed video
- Ground reaction force
- In-shoe pressure
- Metabolic cart
- EMG
- Mechanical testing equipmentI
- Independently perform data analysis utilizing:
- Visual 3D
- Matlab
- Labview
- Create clear and concise summary of research findings for a variety of both internal and external audiences.
- Internal: Marketing, Design, Development, etc.
- External: media, scientific community (conference proceedings, scientific journals, etc.)
Product Validation
- Oversee product performance validation testing including Biomechanical Testing, Perception Testing, Mechanical Testing, Fit Testing, Wear Testing
- Oversee documentation of testing results.
- Work closely with marketing, design, and development to provide recommendations on future iterations of product based on experience and testing results.
Assist team in development of infrastructure (processes, software programs, protocols and procedures) for Sports Research and Product Validation focused on applying analytical data to the design and engineering of performance based products.
Contribute to:
- brainstorming sessions on research by being a catalyst for performance based solution to complex problems.
- product ideation sessions and concept reviews by acting as the end-user and performance advocate utilizing knowledge gained from Product Performance Validation process relevant/related products.
Qualifications
- MS degree or PhD in Biomechanics or Kinesiology, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar with a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
- Major experience with independent data interpretation, statistics, and the creation of summary of results.
- Demonstrated creativity professionally or personally.
- Publication history related to running a plus.
- Supervisory experience a plus.
- Programming knowledge, data visualization techniques, or other interesting skills a plus
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and time management skills with ability to work independently and in a team environment on many projects simultaneously.
- Some local and national travel may be required (up to 5%).
