  • PhD Assistantship

    Funding for one PhD assistantship in the Doctoral Program (PhD) in Education with a specialization in Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion (EFHP) is available in collaboration with the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center. We are seeking a highly-qualified individual that wants to attain their terminal degree at Virginia’s largest public research university.

    Required Qualifications & Responsibilities:
    1. Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, or related field
    2. Must hold a current fitness certification such as ACSM, ACE, NAMS, NCSA, AFFA, NASM, or NFPT
    3. CPR/AED certification
    4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    5. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the area of exercise prescription and intervention to general population, as well as behavioral/educational interventions.


    Note about funding:
    - Contingent upon funding
    - Appointments with possibility of renewal
    - Renewal is dependent on performance evaluation and funding availability
    - Must be eligible to work and study in the United States without visa sponsorship.
