| The Lab Coordinator/Chemical Hygiene Officer coordinates research laboratory operations and resources for the Movement Science Laboratory (MSL) and the Pathokinesiology Laboratory (PKL) in the Departments of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy. These labs include Qualisys and Vicon motion capture systems, AMTI and Bertec force plates and instrumented treadmill, Tekscan pressure systems, Motion Lab and BTS wireless EMG systems, Cybex isokinetic dynamometer, GaitRite and ZenoMat electronic walkway systems, Neurocom Balance Master, MobilityLab inertial sensor system, Biodex device, a diagnostic ultrasound machine and a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulator (TMS). Provides technical expertise and support of faculty and student research projects. In addition, the incumbent will serve as the Chemical Hazard Officer for all CHHS research labs. The Safety and Chemical Hygiene Officer has primary responsibility for ensuring the implementation of Title 8 CCR 5191, Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories. |

| Knowledge, Skills & Abilities | |
| Significant statistical knowledge with respect to data analysis for the purpose of providing technical expertise and maintaining the lab systems. Expertise in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of biomechanics laboratory equipment. Excellent computer skills and demonstrated computer programming skills (Matlab, Visual 3D, etc.). Working knowledge of other programs such as SPSS, LabView, C++, and OpenSim for the purpose of providing technical expertise and maintaining the lab systems. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. | Education and Experience | |
| Equivalent to four years of experience providing instructional support services for a related unit or discipline, or in producing materials or supplies or repairing equipment related to the discipline required. An MS degree preferably in Kinesiology (Biomechanics), Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or other related field preferred. Experience with motion capture, force platforms, pressure sensors, EMG, as well as data collection and analysis software (Qualisys, Vicon). | |
