The Division of Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences is committed to building on its strong academic and research credentials in the application of exercise to health and human performance. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, for example, the Division was ranked 5th in the UK for research power and 1st in the Greater London area. This reflects a strong tradition of sport, health and exercise sciences coupled with major investment in state-of-the-art facilities for research and teaching leading to significant growth and development over the last five years.

We are now seeking an exceptional academic to contribute to the Division’s successful and vibrant programmes in Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences. You will hold a PhD in an appropriate field, with teaching experience in higher education, and a track record of research, publication and income generation appropriate to appointment at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. Your research and enterprise activities will align with the Centre for Human Performance, Exercise and Rehabilitation (CHPER) – a College research centre with a focus on cardiovascular, respiratory and neuro-musculoskeletal performance, health and rehabilitation.

Under Brunel’s Academic Life Cycle policy, the appointment to Lecturer will be subject to a 2 year probationary period (with associated reduction in teaching duties) followed by a 2 year development period. Subject to meeting probationary and development targets, the post holder will be promoted to Senior Lecturer after 4 years.

We work hard to provide a supportive and positive environment and the Department of Life Sciences has recently been awarded an Athena SWAN Bronze Award. We are also a Disability Confident employer. The diversity of our staff adds greatly to this inclusive ethos, and we particularly welcome applications from women and under-represented groups.

Brunel University London is proud to have received a silver award in the UK government’s first measure of teaching and learning excellence in the national higher education sector. The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) results were announced on 22 June 2017. The award recognises the University’s efforts in delivering high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for its students which consistently exceed rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education.
