Detailed Job Description:
Post-doctoral researcher position with prior clinical training and experience to pursue specialized research training and experience in the study of in vivo biomechanical analysis and joint injury within the department of sports medicine in Rochester, MN, and Minneapolis, MN, under the guidance of a scientific mentor; performs applied research in the area of biomechanics of considerable scope and complexity, in which existing theory or methods may be limited or lacking; develops, designs, and executes, neuromuscular training protocols aimed at injury prevention and rehabilitation on large cohorts of subject and patient populations; designs, executes and conducts advanced lab experiments; collects, analyzes and interprets research results; designs, collects, processes and analyzes 3D and 2D motion analysis data with the intent of answering complex scientific questions; interacts with individual subjects as well as sports teams in order to ensure proper implementation of training and rehabilitation protocols; compiles research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books and other media; collaborates with Principal Investigator to develop, write and submit grant applications to obtain funding in support of research being conducted; develops and writes manuscripts for publication in scientific journals; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods in the study of biomechanics; participates in the training of graduate students and junior laboratory staff.
Minimum Education Requirements:
PT / PhD or DPT is required. PhD in kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise science, sports medicine, biomedical engineering, biomedical sciences, bioengineering, or related field is required
Additional Skills Desired:
Completed doctoral training in biomechanics and or rehabilitation sciences, with an active clinical caseload is the past 5 years (desirable), as is SCS or OCS certification (desirable). Previous experience with extensive in vivo subject testing including, but not limited to, 3D motion analysis, isokinetic strength testing, and balance testing is required. Clinical experience working with sports medicine patients is required. Ability to perform clinical assessments of joint function is required. Experience with implementing training/rehabilitation protocols on an athlete/patient population is required. English language proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
