The Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Münster, Germany, invites applications and nominations for the following permanent position:
Full Professorship in Human Performance and Training in Sport
Salary level W3, according to the salary scale for civil servants in North-Rhine-Westphalia (Dienstrechtsmodernisierungsgesetz)
The successful candidate’s research will focus on describing and investigating the effects of training processes in sports and exercise. Thus, the candidate should be competent in one or more of the following fields: high-performance sports, health- and exercise-related sports, physical education, motor learning, applied physiology, neurology of moving and learning, talent development or other themes; the candidate should also have skills and experience in applied fields of sport. The candidate should possess substantial methodological expertise so that her/his research can be linked to other sub-disciplines within sport science, in particular sports psychology and movement science. The candidate should also possess a clear empirical-analytical orientation, especially in experiment-oriented research, and should be able to use advanced statistical methods. For their experiments, the candidate is expected to use the Institute’s experimental research facility, the ‘OpenLab’, which is excellently equipped and supported by full-time professional staff.
The candidate will assume teaching responsibilities in the educational programs for teachers in the BA and M.Ed. programmes (in German) and in the B.Sc. programme ‘Human movement and Exercise Science’ and the M.Sc. programme ‘Sports, Exercise and Human Performance’ (in English). Teaching obligations equal 9 hours per week.
A doctoral degree in a relevant area is required (cf. Hochschulzukunftsgesetz NRW, § 36), preferably in the area of sport science. Other requirements include publications in international peer-reviewed academic journals, successful, significant grant applications, as well teaching and administrative experience at the university level. Candidates not familiar with German are expected to acquire the language skill necessary for teaching in German and for participating in political and administrative processes within a period of two years.
