The UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) (www.bme.unc.edu) is seeking to fill a 9-month tenure-track position in Rehabilitation Engineering at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor. The Rehabilitation Engineering track of our department involves basic research in human neuromechanics, development and assessment of advanced technologies to restore sensorimotor function in individuals with physical disabilities, and translation of novel technologies to clinics and end users. Our interests include, but are not limited to prosthetics and orthotics, wearable technologies, virtual reality, neuromotor rehabilitation, neural engineering, biomechanics, and computer modeling.
We encourage candidates conducting basic and applied research in the areas of: (1) biodynamics of human locomotion, (2) wearable robotics and neuroprosthetics, (3) motor control and motor learning focused on human-machine interactions, and (4) innovative therapeutic or assistive technologies with the potential to transform rehabilitation practice from the clinic to the community. Outstanding candidates in other areas of Rehabilitation Engineering will be considered. This position will serve as core faculty in Biomedical Engineering with participation in both undergraduate and graduate instruction expected.
Position will be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, depending on credentials and qualifications.
