Neuroscience Research Australia is looking to appoint a crash testing engineer for the newly established Transurban Road Safety Centre at NeuRA. The Transurban Road Safety Centre is a state-of-the art crash testing facility, equipped with a custom-designed crash sled capable of crash tests up to 60km/hr. The facility is being used for a broad range of research, examining child passenger safety, older driver safety and motorcycle safety, to name just a few.
The role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated engineer (degree or diploma qualified) to oversee the operations of the Transurban Road Safety Centre and conduct crash testing for NeuRA’s research programs. The successful applicant will work with Professor Lynne Bilston & Dr Julie Brown and other NeuRA researchers and collaborators, technical staff, and students. Initial appointment is for 3 years, with potential for extension. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Essential Criteria:
- Engineering degree or diploma with appropriate relevant experience
- Experience with data acquisition systems
- Experience with mechanical design of test rigs (impact applications desirable)
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or visa that allows the applicant to work in Australia
Desirable Criteria:
- Crash testing experience or knowledge, including experience using and maintaining anthropomorphic crash test dummies, and high speed video
