POSITION: Assistant Professor of Kinesiology (Biomechanics)
EFFECTIVE DATE: August 20, 2018 (Fall Semester)
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. with specialization in biomechanics or highly related field. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2018. Demonstrated potential for effective teaching and research, scholarly and creative activities in biomechanics and a working knowledge of biomechanics specific computer hardware and software, as well as technologies specific for teaching and research in biomechanics. Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
DESIRED/PREFERRED: Teaching experience in biomechanics at undergraduate and graduate level at a four-year college. Ability to teach courses such as introductory biomechanics, applied biomechanics, research methods in biomechanics and/or clinically-oriented courses in biomechanics. Development and maintenance of software, hardware, and other technologies related to teaching and research in Biomechanics. Demonstrated record of published research and evidence of a current research agenda in biomechanics. Record of collaboration in completing research, scholarly and creative activities. Additional teaching experience at the undergraduate level in at least one of the following areas: strength and conditioning, measurement and statistics, exercise physiology, and/or motor learning.
DUTIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate biomechanics courses as well as other kinesiology courses as assigned; apply for external funding to support research and instruction; assist with management of the Movement Science Laboratory (MSL); collaborate with kinesiology faculty in research, scholarly and creative activities; serve on master's thesis and comprehensive examination committees; advise undergraduate and graduate exercise science students; Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community.
