POSITION: Chair – Department of Physical Therapy

The School of Health Professions (SHP) at UT Health San Antonio is seeking applications for Chair for the Department of Physical Therapy. Applicants should submit a letter of intent, curriculum vitae and contact information for five professional references. Review of applications will begin immediately. The Position:The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is one of the country’s leading academic health centers. The Department of Physical Therapy is located within the university’s School of Health Professions. With responsibility for developing and implementing a robust strategic plan focused on establishing a world-class department, the Chair’s primary and central goal is to further develop and support activities across all four components of the academic mission: excellence in educational, research, faculty practice and service. Supported by a well-qualified faculty, and administrative staff, the Chair will oversee all administrative, operational, research, and patient care functions of the department. Additional responsibilities include budgeting, planning, accreditation, assessment, development/fundraising, sponsored program activities, agency outreach, alumni relations, enhancing scholarly activities within the department, fostering positive/collegial relationships and other duties as assigned.
Program Direction: Applicants for this position should hold the appropriate qualifications to serve as program director for the physical therapy program. The department has a long and successful history of providing graduate-level education for the preparations of physical therapist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Is a Physical Therapist who is licensed or regulated in any United States jurisdiction as a Physical Therapist.
- Applicants should hold an earned academic doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, EdD) in an area relevant to health professions education or practice.
· Qualified for the rank of Associate Professor, Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor;
· Has a minimum of six years of full time[1]higher education experience, with a minimum of three years of full-time experience in a physical therapist education program.
