    The School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates will be expected to maintain a robust, ongoing research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and have research expertise appropriate for the effective mentoring of trainees at the undergraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral levels in the area of biomechanics. Successful candidates will be expected to secure and sustain extramural funding for an active research program at the University of Michigan.

    General Information:
    The School of Kinesiology (www.kines.umich.edu) is one of 19 independent academic units and one of seven health science schools and colleges within the University of Michigan. The School is led by a Dean, and has 28 tenure-line faculty and approximately 1,000 students. The School of Kinesiology includes research disciplines in biomechanics, motor control, exercise physiology, athletic training, sport management, and health and fitness. The Doctoral Program was ranked #3 in the country by the National Academy of Kinesiology in 2015. Outstanding collaborative opportunities exist both within the School of Kinesiology and with other units across campus. The position is supported by competitive compensation, attractive laboratory space, and access to state-of-the-art core facilities. The School will double its current space and move into a newly renovated building in the heart of U-M's Central Campus in 2020 with dedicated, specially designed facilities for conducting biomechanical experiments.

    Required Qualifications
    Applicants must hold a PhD in Kinesiology or a field applicable to biomechanics such as engineering. Individuals with training and experience in any area of biomechanics relevant to movement and health sciences are encouraged to apply.
    The successful candidate must have demonstrated the potential to secure extramural research funding, mentor graduate students, and teach undergraduate courses in human movement biomechanics and graduate courses in his/her area of expertise.
