  • Mupltiple faculty positions (Open Rank) at East Carolina University

The Department of Engineering at East Carolina University (http://www.engineering.ecu.edu) seeks candidates for multiple tenure-track faculty positions (assistant, associate, or full professor) in the priority areas of (1)
biomaterials and/or biomechanics, (2) coastal infrastructure, sustainability, and/or energy, and (3) big data analytics. Candidates must be willing to collaborate in multi-disciplinary research teams aligned with these
priority areas. Moreover, they are expected to play leadership roles in the future development of research and academic degree programs in these priority areas. More information about these research priority areas may be found at www.engineering.ecu.edu/priorities.

The Department offers an ABET-accredited BS in Engineering with concentrations in Biomedical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial and
Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Also offered is a MS in biomedical engineering in collaboration with the ECU Brody School of Medicine and the ECU School of Dental Medicine. A MS in
mechanical engineering is in development. There are currently approximately 30 faculty, 550 undergraduate engineering majors, and 15 graduate students. The department plans to grow both the undergraduate and
graduate populations. For more information about ECU Engineering please see:
    http://www.engineering.ecu.edu.

    Minimum Qualifications
PhD in biomedical, civil, electrical, environmental, industrial, mechanical, ocean, or systems engineering, or closely related disciplines. Candidates for associate or full professor ranks must have a strong record of grant funded
research and scholarly publications. All degrees must be conferred from a regionally accredited institution.

    Preferred Education and Experience
Primary consideration will be given to applicants whose research and/or teaching experience support these priority areas. Other desirable qualifications include industry experience, teaching experience in flipped,
hybrid, online, or distance education settings, and previous grant-writing experience.

    Special Instructions to Applicants
To apply, visit this website, complete a candidate profile, and upload requested documents, including CV, statement of proposed research, statement of proposed teaching, and a list of five professional references.

    Additional Instructions to Applicants
Applicants must complete a candidate profile or staff application (see “Application Types Accepted” below) online via the PeopleAdmin system. In addition, applicants must submit the documents requested in order to be
    considered for the position.

Applications will be considered until position is filled. Please submit an online ECU application for vacancy #929712 to ECU Human Resources at www.jobs.ecu.edu.

Re: Multiple faculty positions at East Carolina University

There is a substantial commitment to growing engineering at ECU. Competitive start-up packages and teaching releases are available. I anticipate multiple hires within biomechanics.

Interested faculty could mentor Ph.D. students in the Biomechanics and Motor Control Concentration of the Bioenergetics and Exercise Science program.

    About ECU and Greenville:
East Carolina University was founded in 1907 and is home to nearly 29,000 students. The University is one of the largest in the University of North Carolina system and is rapidly growing.

Greenville is located nearly in the middle between Raleigh NC and the Atlantic coast.
The city of Greenville has a population of approximately 90,000 people(175,000 in the MSA). Greenville has a relatively mild climate (average summer temperature - 84oF; average winter temperature - 44o F) and will experience all four seasons. Greenville has a cost of living approximately 10% lower than the US average.

We will begin reviewing applications at the end of the month, but given the number of positions, we anticipate the search will be open for a while.

If anybody is at BMES and would like to ask me any questions about ECU or the position please email me at domirez@ecu.edu
