A post-doctoral fellowship is available within the INSPIRE lab at Harvard Medical School's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This position is funded through active grants from the Department of Defense and NIH to study the plasticity-inducing effects of intermittent hypoxia training on sensorimotor recovery in persons with spinal injury. Research goals are being addressed through a combination of human experimentation and physiological modeling.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: mechanics, neuroscience, rehabilitation, and/or neurophysiology. Strong quantitative and experimental skills are required. The position is available for two years with an option to renew provided that adequate progress is made and that the project funding is continued.
The work will be conducted in an interdisciplinary research environment composed of physiologists, clinicians, neuroscientists, and biomedical engineers. In addition to the primary research program, there will be a number of opportunities to interact and collaborate with faculty in the Harvard Medical School, MIT, MGH, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
