The Research & Surveillance Division of the DoD-VA Extremity Trauma & Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE) conducts research studies aimed at improving the function and quality of life for patients with traumatic extremity injuries, including limb loss. The incumbent will serve as a subject matter expert for orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) related studies in support of the EACE research program at WRNMMC.
The work involves applying extensive knowledge of the full spectrum of O&P devices as it relates to traumatic extremity injuries and limb loss. Incumbent must have in-depth experience functioning as a research team member. Research concentrates on major problems relevant to military extremity trauma and amputation. The highly preferred candidate will have skill in professional design, prototype construction, fabrication, alteration fitting and repair of all types of prostheses and experience conducting complex multi-disciplinary clinical investigations. The candidate can expect to accomplish a variety of research, engineering, and project administrative goals to achieve professional goals that are in line with the Command's strategic plan.
