GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Associate Dean of the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions plays a vital role in leading the College research agenda and in fostering academic excellence across programs within the College. The Associate Dean reports to the College Dean and maintains cooperative relationships with the Department/School Chairpersons, Program Directors, Division Directors, and other members of the College Leadership Team. The Associate Dean serves as a Senior Officer of Central Michigan University and as the chief academic officer of the College in the absence of the Dean.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supervisors are expected to support the Leadership Standards of Central Michigan University and foster a culture that inspires excellence. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned doctorate in one of the disciplines offered by the College or related field.
Experience and qualifications for appointment with tenure at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, in one of the departments or schools within the College or related field.
Leadership experience in health professions at the level of Chair or higher.
Demonstrated higher education teaching experience.
Demonstrated record of scholarly accomplishments.
Familiarity with both applied and basic science research.
History of obtaining external support for research programs.
Demonstrated experience mentoring faculty at various stages of Scholarly development.
Strong organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills, including budget experience.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and a global perspective within the College.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing faculty development programs in the area of research, scholarly activity and Interprofessional Education.
Demonstrated experience in mentoring interdisciplinary research groups.
Demonstrated professional experience or close working experience with clinical healthcare.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with faculty in planning, implementing and evaluating research/scholarly projects.
Collaborates with the Director and staff of the Interprofessional Education/Simulation/Standardize Patient center with advancing educational activity within the center and among the disciplines.
Collaborates with the Director of the Carls Center for Clinical Care and Education to maintain high quality clinical care to the patients, families and the community through the integration of multiple disciplines.
Collaborates with the Coordinator of Mobile Health Central (MHC) with the management of the MHC and the establishment of community partners.
Along with the Healthcare IT team, ensures the appropriate technology is available to support the educational mission of the college, and the mission of the Carls Center and Mobile Health Central.
Works with the Dean’s staff in planning for future educational needs of the college.
