Background to role
Impact Tech Labs already has a number of projects under way which require the skills of a Sports Technologist / Engineer, with a particular focus on wearable technologies for use in sport applications. We are assembling a strong team to support our product development, with a small number of experts who will lead their discipline, building a team or working with third parties where appropriate.

You will be a highly technically capable, hands-on person, with a good understanding of sports technology, human biomechanics, motion measurement technologies, equipment design, and data analysis techniques. You will be able to contribute effectively to design, development, and testing activities. You will also possess good oral and written presentation skills.
We are a very entrepreneurial company, which means working fast, exploring new ideas and solutions, and making things happen are key to our culture. You can assume most if not all projects will be first to market and novel. You will be expected to be hard working, dedicated and to actively contribute to the team effort in order to achieve the company’s goals.
Job Responsibilities
· Perform R&D activities to assess new sensor technologies for measuring sport performance
· Take technical responsibility for devising and executing test protocols to evaluate prototype products and sensor technologies
· Actively contribute to algorithm development activities for wearable technology platforms
· Perform exercise trials with human participants to evaluate product performance
· Write laboratory reports, presenting test results in a concise, clear manner.
· Contribute to prototype design and development activities.
· Work accurately, across multiple projects and disciplines to produce high quality results under tight schedule requirements.
· Carry out root cause investigations to support QA activities.
· Provide technical support to marketing activities.
Skills and Experience
· Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g. Sports Technology, Sports Science, Biomedical Engineering), postgraduate qualification preferred.
· At least 2 years employment experience in the sports technology industry.
· Good understanding of the factors contributing to sport performance and injuries.
· Experience in leading testing with human participants completing exercise trials.
· Excellent research and analytical skills.
· Good practical technical skills in the science / engineering domains
· Able to take individual responsibility for tasks whilst working within a team environment.
· Good communication skills – able to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
· Understanding of research and development methodology and relevant statistical analysis techniques.
· Self-motivated and quick to learn new methodologies and develop new expertise.
· Should be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial way, seeking out and exploring ideas and opportunities, whilst maintaining accuracy in day to day delivery of results.
