    The Motion and Sports Performance Laboratory in the Department of Orthopedics at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX is accepting applications for a research engineer. The primary focus of the lab is a wide range of orthopedic research with a secondary sports performance component. The successful candidate will work together with orthopedic surgeons, clinical fellows, and residents. The candidate will be responsible for data collection and data analysis; study design organization and implementation; collaborating in manuscript preparation and grant writing; and management of the Lab including research equipment, software and patient interaction.

    Primary Job Responsibilities: Conduct research under the direction of the Medical Director of the Motion and Sports Performance Laboratory. Manage all aspects of projects from inception through manuscript preparation. Perform data collection utilizing: 3D motion capture system, force plates, electromyography (EMG), and foot pressure mat. Maintain all laboratory equipment. Coordinate research projects and manage timing of several concurrent projects. Write and maintain laboratory IRB protocols. Assist with scheduling of subjects. Assist in the preparation and submission of funding applications. Prepare, review, and submit abstracts and manuscripts for publication.

    Qualifications: Master’s degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, or a closely related field. Experience in an engineering or other biomechanics/movement science related field, as well as knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of biomechanics. At least one year of related experience in a gait and/or motion analysis laboratory. Experience with motion capture data routines (calibration, marker application, data processing, etc.). Proficient with Visual3D as well as strong programming skills in MATLAB and/or LabView. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
