The Orthopaedics Department at the University of Tübingen, Germany is currently seeking candidates for a full-time position as a Research Engineer (Postdoc). Remuneration is according to TV-L13 (the German civil servant salary scale) for 2 years, with the possibility of extension.
The post holder will work in the Orthopaedics Biomechanics lab, which is equipped with an MTS 858 machine, a Kuka KR60 robot, and a customised knee simulator. The main research focus of the lab is in the biomechanical evaluation of artificial and normal joints in the spine and lower limb.

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop test protocols to answer basic science and clinical questions in orthopaedics biomechanics research, in cooperation with surgeons, engineers and students.
- Conduct biomechanical testing of orthopaedic implants, surgical techniques, etc.
- Perform measurements, and statistical analysis of data.
- Preparation of abstracts, manuscripts and grants.
Min Qualifications:
- a relevant Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
- excellent programming skills (e.g. Matlab, LabView), and/or expected to acquire knowledge in robotic programming.
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- ability to work independently and in a team.
- an excellent command of written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- previous experience in solving orthopaedic problems that combine simulation and experiments.
- previous record of high-quality research.
- experience working with a Kuka KR60 robot.
- some knowledge of German or willingness to learn German.
