  • Engineer position in computational modeling and simulation

Our research group ( is looking for a research engineer in computational biomechanics. Our activities span multiple systems, from musculoskeletal to cardiovascular to neurological, implementing open source modeling strategies and simulation-based medical innovations. Our recruits are expected to have exceptional curiosity and an unlimited learning capacity to acquire robust skills while addressing challenging modeling and simulation problems in any of these domains. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their CV along with a cover letter and contact information for three references to Ahmet Erdemir, Review of candidates will start immediately. Desired qualifications are based on anticipated involvement in various activities and are provided below.
    • BSc or MSc degree in engineering, computer science, or relevant discipline applicable to mechanics of biological structures, physics-based simulations, and numerical analysis
    • familiarity to computational modeling modalities, in particular the use of finite element analysis
    • familiarity to programming with Python
    • familiarity to use and customize free and open source scientific and engineering software such as SciPy, Slicer, Blender, SALOME, SOFA, FEBio, etc.
    • familiarity to and compliance with open source development
    • capability to develop scripts for pre-/post-processing of computational models
    • capacity to conduct experimentation on cadaver specimens and on human subjects
    • capacity to develop manuscripts and presentations for scholarly publishing and visibility
