  • NIH Funded Post-Doc in Locomotor Dynamics - Penn State University

The Locomotor Control (LoCo) Lab at Penn State University seeks a highly qualified post-doctoral scholar to study how cognition influences locomotor control and walking dynamics. This work will be conducted in Dr. Jonathan Dingwell’s laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Development, at The Pennsylvania State University. Specific projects will involve applying advanced virtual reality-based experimental methods to examine how movement coordination and dynamic stability are regulated during human walking in young and older adults. Advanced data analytical approaches will be applied to identify the basic neural (computational) and biomechanical mechanisms that govern how humans control walking. The position is fully funded from university funds and either of two currently funded NIH grants in the lab:

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field. Strong quantitative skills (mathematics, physics, Matlab) and a proven record of scholarly achievements are essential. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and will continue until the position is filled. To apply and be considered for the position, candidates must complete an online application and upload a cover letter, CV, a statement of research interests and career goals, and three professional references.
