Postdoctoral Position in Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation, University of Minnesota, Department of Neurology
Project: Development of a Non-invasive Approach to Test Cortical-Brainstem Motor Pathways in Humans
    Department of Neurology
University of Minnesota – Twin Cities
    Minneapolis, MN

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available immediately in the Movement Disorders Laboratory, Department of Neurology, at the University of Minnesota. The position is funded by a grant from The Winston and Maxine Wallin Neuroscience Discovery Fund. The project is focused on the development and testing of novel transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) methods to evaluate cortical-brainstem pathways (e.g. reticulospinal) and their role in postural control in humans.

The preferred applicant will have a doctoral degree in the areas of human motor neurophysiology, motor systems neuroscience or motor control. Expertise in sensorimotor neurophysiology pertaining to the control of posture, balance and gait is preferred, but not required. Since the project will extensively use TMS methods, experience in the use of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques is also preferred. The project will require the individual to conduct analyses of surface and single unit EMG recordings in the MatLab programming environment. The candidate must have strong inter-personal skills and be comfortable with collecting biomechanical and electrophysiological data in people with neurological disorders.

The University of Minnesota is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States.

Applicants must apply through the University Human Resources website by visiting https://humanresources.umn.edu/jobs and searching for Job ID 321660.
