Assistant/Associate Professor in Kinesiology (Open Area) -Tenure Track (#937295)
The Department of Kinesiology within the College of Health and Human Performance at East Carolina University announces a nine-month tenure track position, at the assistant or associate level, beginning August, 2018.
The successful candidate is expected to: teach in the area of their expertise and to develop/further enhance a nationally recognized research program evidenced by a strong record of impactful publications and external funding. The successful candidate will compliment current department human health related research strengths (for example: aging, diabetes, musculoskeletal injury, physical activity behaviors, obesity, skeletal muscle hypertrophic regulation, and skeletal muscle metabolism) in areas such as biomechanics and motor control, cellular and molecular physiology, exercise physiology and behavioral science, and nutritional exercise physiology. Additional responsibilities include providing service to the university, community, and profession along with directing doctoral and master’s thesis research projects.
The Department of Kinesiology offers several academic programs and a variety of experiences for students. Our undergraduate academic programs include a B.S. in Exercise Physiology, B.S. in Health Fitness Specialist, B.S. in Physical Education, and B.S. in Sports Studies. Our graduate programs include a M.S. in Kinesiology (with concentrations in Adapted Physical Education, Biomechanics and Motor Control, Exercise Physiology, Physical Activity Promotion, Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Sport Management), a MAEd/M.A.T. in Physical Education, and a PhD in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science (with concentrations in Biomechanics and Motor Control, Cellular and Molecular Bioenergetics, Exercise Physiology and Behavioral Science, and Nutritional Exercise Physiology).
Minimum Qualifications: A doctoral degree in Kinesiology or closely related field (including but not limited to: Exercise and Sport Science, Applied Physiology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Exercise Physiology, Physiology, Public Health, Psychology, or Rehabilitation Science).
Preferred Qualifications: Post-doctoral training in Kinesiology or closely related field.
