    Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) in Biomedical Engineering: Simulations, Imaging and Modeling (BME-SIM)

    The Departments of Engineering, Kinesiology and Physical Therapy at East Carolina University will conduct a 10 week summer research program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for 10 undergraduate students. Students will have the opportunity to work with qualified faculty mentors on their own research project. The experiences and research skills obtained through this program will prepare students for graduate school.

    The focus of this program is improvement of simulations and computational models across all disciplines of biomedical engineering. Information about the research projects, faculty mentors, and application instructions can be found on the program website. Rising juniors and seniors, students from underrepresented groups (women, minorities and persons with disabilities), and students from academic institutions with limited research opportunities are encouraged to apply.

    Qualifications:
    Rising juniors and seniors
    US citizen or permanent resident
    Major in basic sciences, math, computer science or related disciplines
    Strong academic background
    Students from underrepresented groups (women, minorities and persons with disabilities), and students from academic institutions with limited research opportunities are encouraged to apply.

    Program participants will receive the following:
    $5000 stipend
    On-campus housing
    Meal plan
    Travel to a conference

    Dates:
    Review of Applications begin on February 12, 2018, but will continue on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
    The program will run from May 27th - August 4th 2018.
