    Job Summary
    Michigan Technological University, a nationally recognized leader in science and engineering education and research, invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology. We seek a candidate with expertise in biomechanics, with preference to a human biomechanist with research and scholarly overlap in exercise and integrative physiology. Salary and start-up are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The expected start date for this position is August 20, 2018.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Teach graduate and undergraduate courses related to human bio-mechanics and other related kinesiology courses. Typical teaching load is two 3-credit classes per semester, with reduced teaching load during initial years of appointment, as well as opportunities for sustained reduction of teaching load through external research funding. Advise and mentor departmental graduate students. Engage in departmental, college, university, and professional service activities, although their focus will be on excellence in teaching and research. Attract and maintain external research funding and must demonstrate a deep appreciation for both research and teaching.

    Required Education
    Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Physiology, or a related field.

    Required Experience
    Expertise in biomechanics, with preference to a human biomechanist with research and scholarly overlap in exercise and integrative physiology. Demonstrate a clearly defined research program capable of sustaining high qualify, peer-reviewed publications and an active professional network. Credentials consistent with appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.

    Desirable Experience
    Direct experience with external grant submissions. Experience with college teaching.

    Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology
    The Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology is home to approximately 120 undergraduate and graduate students. We offer two baccalaureate degrees (B.S., Exercise Science; B.S., Sports & Fitness Management), an M.S. in Kinesiology, and a Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology. The department is a campus leader in health science research and education, with over $5 million in state, foundation, federal, and industry funding. Half of our tenure/tenure-track faculty have active NIH R15 or R01 grants.
