    RESEARCH ENGINEER FOR SPINAL CORD INJURY RESEARCH LAB (ATLANTA, GA)

    The SpinalCord Injury Research Laboratory as Shepherd Center seeks an outstanding individual to fill a full-time position as Research Engineer.


    The Spinal Cord Injury Research Team atShepherd Center is dedicated to improving motor function in persons with spinal cord injury through the development of neuromodulation and neurorehabilitation approaches informed by the latest neuroscience research and technology. The laboratory incorporates state of the art motion analysis, neural signal processing (EMG) systems. The laboratory team included postdocs, PhD students, and clinical research associates. Current studies are funded by the NIH, DOD, NIDILRR, the Nielsen Foundation, and Wings for Life.

    The ideal candidate has a Masters Degree inEngineering (Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical) or a related discipline.Experience in collecting EMG, force data, and motion analysis data isdesirable. Excellent computer skills including programming in MATLAB for dataanalysis and as well at technical skills are essential. This individualwill serve as laboratory manager and report to the laboratory director.Responsibilities for this position include implementation and management ofinterdisciplinary research projects as well as advising and collaborating withothers on such investigations. Collaborators include neuroscientists,physiologists, clinicians, research fellows, and students.

    Duties include but are not limited to:
    · EMG and motion capturedata collection and analysis
    · Writing and/or modifyingexisting MATLAB programs for EMG and kinematic data
    · Assisting with technicalsoftware needs, maintaining software licensing
    · Maintaining andcalibrating laboratory equipment.

    Salary is competitive with an excellentfringe benefit package based on experience. Applicants must be USnationals or permanent residents. The position will be filled as soon as theappropriate individual is identified.
