    Summary:
    Seeking a Biomedical or Mechanical Engineer to support Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory. This person will contribute to the success of all projects through multi-disciplinary responsibilities, but will have a primary focus on collecting/analyzing gait biomechanics and functional outcomes. Additionally, the Lab Engineer will be involved with several other ongoing and planned projects, involvement in spine analysis, computational modeling and participation with upper/lower limb prosthetics-based research conducted in the lab.

    Responsibilities:
    1. Conducts analysis under the direction of the Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory and Director of the Spine Lab
    2. Manage all aspects of projects from inception through manuscript preparation.
    3. Perform data collection using multidisciplinary instrumentation for motor performance, including motion
    capture, force plates and electromyography (EMG).
    4. Process and analyze experimental data through motion capture software, Visual 3D and Matlab
    5. Maintain all laboratory equipment (motion capture cameras, force plates, EMG, etc.) set up and troubleshoot
    all equipment.
    6. Coordinate laboratory calendar
    7. Train new lab members on equipment use and lab procedures.
    8. Project management and timing of several concurrent assignments/studies.
    9. Apply basic statistical knowledge; understand, interpret and describe complex data by preparing graphs and table
    reports.
    10. Write and maintain laboratory IRB protocols.
    11. Assist in the preparation and submission of funding applications when applicable.
    12. Involvement in manuscript review, submissions and abstracts using lab data.
    13. Proficiency in Matlab programming is required, including the ability to create custom code for data analysis.
    Must demonstrate proficiencies.
    14. Proficiency in Visual3D processing and data analysis, including the ability to create custom models and
    pipelines. Must demonstrate proficiencies.
    15. Adheres to the department productivity standards if applicable. 16. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.


    Other information:
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
    1. Master’s or doctorate degree in engineering (mechanical or biomedical) or Bachelor of Science with equivalent experience is required.
    2. Experience in an engineering or other biomechanics/movement science field, as well as knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of biomechanics.
    3. Research experience in a gait and motion lab is highly desired.
    4. Knowledge of motion analysis data acquisition and processing.
    5. Must be a problem solver, have excellent critical thinking ability and great interpersonal skills.
