At the department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy (UGent), we are currently actively seeking a PhD student (100%) and/or research assistant (50-80%) with a background (master degree) in physiotherapy, kinesiology or movement sciences, medicine or equivalent to join our multi-disciplinary research team. Our team consists of experts from rehabilitation and physiotherapy, kinesiology, rheumatology, and exercise physiology. We perform clinical and epidemiological osteoarthritis research that is directed at understanding osteoarthritis onset and progression and optimising non-surgical treatment strategies.
For the current vacancies, we seek highly motivated candidates with a record of very good to excellent academic achievements, an interest and/or experience in movement analysis, medical imaging, pain neurophysiology and clinical research. Experience with the clinical management of osteoarthritis patients is a plus, yet not strictly necessary.
Due to the geographical location of our department and the inter-personal nature of some of the research tasks, a proficiency in Dutch (next to English) is preferred.
We offer: a 4-year position (either full-time for PhD student or 50-80% for research assistant); competitive salaries as set out by the Flemish government and in accordance with the salary scales for scientific personnel at Ghent University; state-of-the-art research facility and training in use; a challenging, versatile and carefully designed project; and a dynamic, young and ambitious research team. PhD students will also be given the opportunity to enrol in the Doctoral School training program whilst earning a Doctoral Degree.
The department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy is young and dynamic; and located on the Ghent University Hospital Campus (Ghent, Belgium). Ghent University is the highest ranked Belgian University in the Shanghai World Ranking with a top 30 position amongst European institutions and top 100 worldwide.
