The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology at the University of Delaware invites nominations and applications for a continuing track faculty position (assistant professor, non-tenure track, nine-month academic year appointment). We seek an innovative, dynamic faculty member to teach undergraduate human anatomy and physiology with the ability to also teach in one of the following exercise science areas: biomechanics, motor control, or exercise physiology. Other responsibilities include student mentoring and service to the department, college and university. A PhD in a related field and relevant teaching experience is required (ABD considered). All faculty are expected to contribute to a welcoming campus environment that embraces diversity.
GENERAL INFORMATION: The Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology (http://www.udel.edu/kaap) is comprised of 23 faculty, approximately 750 undergraduate students pursuing a B.S. in Exercise Science or Sports Health, and 40 graduate students pursuing an M.S. in Exercise Science, an M.S. in Athletic Training (pending approval), an M.S in Clinical Exercise Physiology (pending approval), a Ph.D. in Biomechanics and Movement Sciences or a Ph.D. in Applied Physiology. The Department values excellent teaching and student engagement. The University provides an environment that supports and fosters teaching innovation, instructional technology, and course development.
Ranked fifth, nationally, among the best places to study the health professions by College Factual, the College of Health Sciences is a thriving academic unit of over 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 130 faculty with outstanding research and teaching facilities. The College has recently opened an exciting new 100,000 sq. ft. clinical research facility and will occupy 7 floors in a 10-story tower opening in Fall 2018. The College also includes the departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Physical Therapy, and the School of Nursing. With annual research expenditures of approximately $26 million, the college currently houses a number of large, interdisciplinary grants with significant funding from the NIH and DoD. The college boasts strong research teams in the areas of neurological disorders, cardiovascular health, and other chronic disease conditions, as well as rehabilitation science and concussion.
