    Job Description
    General Summary
    We are seeking a new Post-Doctoral fellow to work in the Legsand Walking lab of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly RehabilitationInstitute of Chicago) located at downtown Chicago. The Post-Doc Fellow will workon two NIH supported projects with their aims to improve walking function ofindividuals post stroke or people with spinal cord injury (SCI) through roboticinterventions and understand motor learning mechanisms of patient populationsduring gait training. A successfulcandidate should have a background in Biomedical Engineering/MechanicalEngineering, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or Kinesiology. Some Matlab skills are required, and someexperiences working with SCI or stroke patients will be a plus, although notrequired. A moderate level ofindependence is expected.

    Principal Responsibilities
    The Post-Doc Fellow, Legs and Walking lab will:
    1. Conduct experiments in patients with SCI and patients poststroke. 2. Develop, submit and publishthe results of research projects in high quality journals and present resultsat public conferences/seminars when needed.3. Assist withdevelopment of collaborative projects within and outside the Shirley RyanAbilityLab. 4. Applyfor fellowships and grants for external lab funding and career development. 5. Participate weekly lab meetings, journalclubs and seminars.6. Perform all otherduties that may be assigned in the best interest of the AbilityLab.

    Reporting Relationships1.Reports directly to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Ming Wu.Knowledge,Skills & Abilities Required1.Requires the academic knowledge associated with a doctorate degree inBiomedical or Mechanical Engineering, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, orHuman Movement Science. 2. Less than 5 years of postdoctoral training.3.Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.4.Ability to work closely with patients, clinicians, and professionalorganizations.5. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills needed toparticipate as a creative member of a growing research team.6.Ability to timely plan and to coordinate project completions.
