Elon University Department of Physical Therapy Education, School of Health Sciences In Partnership with Cone Health
Announces the availability of a tenure-track position for an Associate or Assistant professor with an emphasis in musculoskeletal practice. We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Assistant professor level. The department of 14 full-time and 4 part-time highly qualified, dynamic faculty is interested in recruiting an individual with demonstrated clinical and teaching experience in musculoskeletal physical therapy. The successful candidate will also have a clinically oriented, ongoing research agenda related to musculoskeletal physical therapy, rehabilitation/movement science, biomechanics, and/or motor control. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, scholarship, and department and university service. The successful candidate is expected to have effective interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to graduate education and professional growth.
The successful candidate will have:
A record of teaching and scholarship
Eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in North Carolina
A minimum of 3 years of clinical practice
Active membership in professional organizations
Preferred candidates will also have:
Experience as mid-career orthopedic specialist and mentor
An academic terminal degree (e.g PhD, DSc, EdD)
Residency or fellowship training or ABPTS certification
Active leadership in a professional organization
The start date for this position is negotiable, with preference for starting before August 1, 2018.
About the Department: The department is located in the LEED-certified Gerald L. Francis Center where the School of Health Sciences is located. The DPTE occupies approximately 32,000 square feet with state-of-the-art equipment for teaching and research, including but not limited to: MSK ultrasound, DEXA scanner, Strength and Balance measuring systems, a 3D motion capture system which includes 12 cameras and a 16-channel wireless EMG system, plus two force plates for gait analysis, Woodway Pro-Treadmill, instrumented walkways, and a body weight support rehabilitation system.
