    Shriners Hospitals for Children in Erie, Pennsylvania is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time Biomechanist / Clinical Research Coordinator in our dynamic Motion Analysis Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical equipment management, assisting with clinical care involving children with neurologic gait dysfunction, upper extremity analysis in children with brachial plexus birth palsy, sports injuries, spine motion analysis, and center-wide research coordination in conjunction with our team of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Qualified candidates will preferably have a Master’s degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, or a related field. Experience in three-dimensional kinematic and kinetic data collection / reduction, and a strong background in biomechanics of human movement is desired. Knowledge of MAC Cortex (or similar), Visual 3D software, and computer programming is required (MATLAB). Research experience from hypothesis conception to manuscript development is required. Database management competency strongly desired. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

    FACILITIES
    The Motion Analysis Center occupies more than 1500 square feet in our ambulatory pediatric orthopedic center. Major equipment includes a ten-camera MAC Raptor 4 with Cortex software motion capture collection system, three moveable AMTI force plates, 16-channel Delsys Trigno wireless EMG system, Novel emed-q pressure platform and a Biodex System IV Isokinetic Dynamometer. The city of Erie is located in the northwest corner of Pennsylvania, along the shores of scenic Lake Erie. Metropolitan areas in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo are within a comfortable two-hour drive.
