The Center for Neuromotor and Biomechanics Research (CNBR) in the Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Houston is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Beom-Chan Lee (http://grants.hhp.uh.edu/leegroup/) on projects to improve balance and gait performance and predict and prevent falls.
The CNBR (http://www.hhp.uh.edu/cnbr/index.php) is equipped with a 16 camera motion capture system (Vicon), a full-body, wireless, and wearable motion tracking (MVN BIOMECH), a 16 channel wireless EMG and IMU system (Trigno™ IM), a near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) system, an 128-channel EEG system, a fully instrumented dual belt treadmill equipped with one force plate underneath each belt, a computerized dynamic posturography system (Balance Manager), and specialized equipment for the study of the neuromusculoskeletal system.
Desired qualifications:
• PhD in Engineering, Rehabilitation Sciences, Kinesiology, Biokinesiology, or closely related field
• Experience in biomechanical (i.e., kinematics, kinetics, EMG, and EEG) data collection and analysis (advanced skills in EEG signal processing highly desired)
• Experience in smartphone application development, preferably for AndroidOS
• Experience in designing PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is a plus
• Evidence of establishing a track record of journal publications
• Able to work independently and with others to develop and maintain a productive work environment
• Strong computer skills with solid programming experience, particularly in MATLAB
• Competence in descriptive and basic inferential statistics (SPSS, SAS, R, STATA, etc.)
• Strong communications and English language skills (written and oral); highly organized; attention to detail
Application Procedure and Review:
