  • JOB: Motion Capture Lab Engineer at @UniOslo, Norway

A permanent, full-time position as Senior Engineer is available at the RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time and Motion at the University of Oslo, Norway. The appointed engineer will be part of a small support team working between labs, but with main responsibility for the fourMs Lab. This is a world-class facility with advanced motion capture systems (Qualisys, Xsens, etc.) and sound spatialisation systems.

RITMO is a Centre of Excellence funded by the Research Council of Norway, and focuses on rhythm as a structuring mechanism for the temporal dimensions of human life. RITMO researchers work in a unique interdisciplinary constellation, with world-leading competence in musicology, psychology and informatics. The researchers have access to state-of-the-art facilities in sound/video recording, motion capture, eye tracking, physiological measurements, various types of brain imaging (EEG, fMRI), and rapid prototyping and robotics laboratories.

    Job description
    • Responsibility for the daily operation of the fourMs Lab
    • Procurement, installation, support and maintenance of equipment in the lab
    • Support researchers with all phases of running experiments in the lab
    • Develop routines for data management, including assisting researchers in developing data management plans, handling of privacy issues, and storage/archiving of data
    • Train researchers and IT staff in the skills needed to use the equipment in the lab

    Qualification requirements
    • Masters degree in a relevant field. The applicant is required to document that the degree corresponds to the profile for the post. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education.
    • Experience with infrared, marker-based motion capture systems (Qualisys, Vicon, or similar).
    • Skills and interest in research data management.

In addition, it is desirable with:
    • experience with other motion capture systems (inertial, optical, etc.), physiological measurements (EMG, ECG, EEG, etc.), and/or eye tracking
    • skills in Matlab, Python and/or other relevant programming languages
    • experience with sound recording/processing

    We offer
    • salary NOK 524 200 – 619 300 (approx EUR 55 800 - 65 800) per year depending on qualifications
    • attractive welfare benefits and a generous pension agreement, in addition to Oslo’s family-friendly environment with its rich opportunities for culture and outdoor activities

    Please forward to relevant candidates.
