Following a period of sustained growth, the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA) is recruiting for an additional Associate Editor for their journal Sports Engineering. This is a training programme, and the successful applicant will spend one year as an Assistant Editor working alongside the current Associate Editors, before becoming an Associate Editor themselves. They shall work closely with the Associate Editors and report to the Editor in Chief, providing support for the processing of submitted papers and especially seeking to enhance the paper submission rate for the journal. A key aspect of the role will be supporting the Editor in Chief by reviewing and updating the submission and review process, to ensure it remains efficient and effective. They may also from time to time take full responsibility for special initiative such as special issues and invited papers. The specific duties of the Associate Editor will be set by the Editor in Chief, depending on the current requirements of the journal. This is an excellent opportunity for a Sports Engineer who is interested in academic publishing.
The initial tenure will be for 3 years, with 1 year as an Assistant Editor and 2 years as an Associate Editor. The tenure may be extended following good performance. Remuneration for the role will include a stipend of £1,000 per annum, plus ISEA membership for the duration of the tenure.
The ideal candidate will be an established/ emerging researcher in Sports Engineering, or similar such as physics, materials science, electronics or biomechanics, with experience as a reviewer, guest editing experience would also be desirable. They will be an active member of the Sports Engineering community, with a strong interest in scientific publishing. Engagement with other science and engineering communities, both in person and via social media, would be desirable.
