YOUR RESPONSABILITIES
The PhD scholarship is available as part of a research project, supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), aiming at improving our understanding of knee osteoarthritis (OA), a painful and incapacitating disease affecting approximately a third of the population above 65 years old. As there is no treatment of proven efficacy to stop progression of this disease, knee osteoarthritis represents a major socio-economical burden. In order to find new therapeutic options, there is a crucial need to improve the understanding of the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis. This project will analyze the relationships between structural and functional features of the knee to consolidate an integrated disease model. To this end, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and gait data will be collected and processed using advanced in-house analytical tools.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should:
- Hold a master degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Medicine, Physiotherapy, Sport Science, or equivalent.
- Have a keen interest in collecting experimental data and analyzing biomechanical and medical imaging parameters.
- Have familiarity with testing of human subjects.
- Have a good understanding and experience with gait analysis; experience in medical imaging would be a plus.
- Have knowledge in statistics, and an interest in acquiring new statistical skills if needed.
- Be fluent (written and spoken) in English and French.
