Qualifications:
● Doctorate in Biomechanics or closely related field by time of appointment
● Demonstrated ability to teach classes in biomechanics at the undergraduate and graduate levels
● Evidence of scholarly promise, professional engagement, and ability to seek external funding where appropriate
● Ability and desire to serve on thesis committees, supervise theses/projects, and advise in both the graduate and
undergraduate programs
● Demonstration of strong writing and oral communications skills
● Applicants should demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to educational goals of a multicultural population as
might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.
Preferred:
● Biomechanical scholarship focusing on areas related to health and wellness, exercise as medicine and/or
physical activity and health promotion
● Evidence of mentoring diverse student populations
Responsibilities:
● Teach introductory and advanced classes in biomechanics at the undergraduate level, including introductory
biomechanics, biomechanical assessment of movement as well as graduate courses in biomechanics
● Ability to teach in other areas of the undergraduate and graduate programs, such as research methods and
general education and/or the physical activity programs
● Develop new curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels as needed
● Responsibility (or co-responsibility) for the continued development and maintenance of the biomechanics
research laboratory, including software, hardware, and other technologies related to teaching and research in
biomechanics
● Membership and participation in appropriate professional associations
● Seek, where possible, collaborative research opportunities and professional relationships with department,
college, university and community partners
● Conduct research, seek external funding where appropriate, present professional papers, and publish in
professional journals
● Serve on department, college, and university committees as appropriate
● Candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background,
ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies and
advisement.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
