Clinical Research Associate/Clinical Research Coordinator (GS-10/11)

Job Summary
The Muscle Morphology, Mechanics, and Performance Laboratory (3MAP Lab) is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Assistant/Clinical Research Coordinator. 3MAP Lab is located within the newly constructed Clinical Research Center at the DC VAMC. The laboratory group conducts rehabilitation research concerning muscle plasticity in response to training, normal aging, and chronic disease.
The principal responsibility of the successful candidate will be the coordination of a VA Rehabilitation Research & Development funded clinical study. Project management duties will entail study coordination between Federal and academic clinical sites. The objectives of this study are to validate a method for screening age-related muscle dysfunction, and investigate the efficacy of progressive resistance exercise involving eccentric muscle actions. Sonographic imaging, isokinetic dynamometry, and other approaches will be used to characterize muscle morphology and performance in the study participants.
Classification
This is a full-time, year-round, term-limited, exempt position with benefits.
Key Dates
On-boarding of the successful applicant at the DC VAMC will begin upon selection; the review of applications is ongoing and will continue until the position is filled.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Rehabilitation Science, or related field
Basic knowledge of clinical research compliance issues and ethical research principles
Experience working with clinical populations
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher preferred
Project management and/or clinical coordination experience
Experience with data management
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Ability to perform basic statistical analyses
Required Responsibilities
Coordinate human subject research compliance tasks, including IRB applications and audit reports
Contribute to funding agency and IRB progress reports
Coordinate participant recruitment and scheduling
Assist with the study P.I. with the management of the laboratory and the Human Performance Research Unit
Additional Opportunities
Participate in data collection activities
Assist with the training of interns, staff, and post-doctoral fellows
Serve as an author or co-author related to selected lab projects
Engage in teaching opportunities at local universities affiliated with the DC VAMC
Qualified candidates could participate additional research projects underway at the Human Performance Research Unit
