Summary/Objective
The Houston Astros are seeking a Pitching Analyst in the Player Acquisition department. This position will support the efforts of the domestic, international, and professional scouting departments by providing evaluations of pitchers utilizing video and other available data. The Analyst will also work closely with members of the player development, sports medicine, and R&D departments. The position will be based in Houston, Texas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Produce written and verbal pitcher evaluations utilizing video, scouting information, and technology
· Collect, organize and analyze data to assist in player acquisition processes
· Interact regularly with scouts and coaches in the field
· Develop and maintain awareness of current research and trends in the field of pitcher development and evaluation
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
· 2+ years’ work experience from a relevant field sought
Qualifications
· Capacity to combine information from multiple data sources to draw conclusions
· Ability to convey findings in a concise, articulate manner
· Strong baseball knowledge and/or experience in the fields of biomechanics or kinesiology preferred
· Proficiency with SQL, Excel, and general high technological literacy preferred

Work Environment
Position will work in an office and stadium environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The role will also be moving around the stadium, climbing stairs, crouching, bending, and walking around the stadium. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.
